Base the Intensity of Your Workout on Your Heartrate

One way to maximise the efficiency of your workout is by keeping to the optimal heart rate.

The goal is to keep stay at 60 – 85% of your maximum heart rate (HRmax). Your HRmax is 220 beats per minute minus your age.

If you are 30 years old, your maximum heart rate is 190 making your optimal workout between 114 and 142 BPM for someone in fairly good shape.
